FAQs
What does Newberry Nibbler’s provide during a visit?
For parties and special events, we set up a 140 sq. ft. portable enclosure with 47” tall sides. The enclosure has an entry gate through which participants can enter. We do this for a few reasons:
Protecting customer’s plants and trees. Goats are curious and like to find new tasty treats!
Protecting those that do not wish to interact with our goats. We respect that some people may not wish to participate.
Protecting our goats. Though goats are durable, there are limits. Some common plants are toxic to goats. Also, if a guest is rough with or abusive to our goats, they will be asked to leave the enclosure.
In addition, we provide anything the goats need (feed, water) and any goat attire agreed upon.
We’ll be there for the whole visit, so don’t worry!
Do goats bite?
Sort of. Goats are incredibly curious creatures. Our baby goats (kids) are bottle fed and love people. However, they love to nibble on clothing, zippers, hair, fingers, buttons, shoe strings, etc. Goats don’t have upper teeth in the front of their mouths, so nibbles are more like gumming.
Can we feed the goats?
Maybe. The young goats are bottle fed and are just starting on solid food and hay. We will have hay and feed with us, but there is no guarantee the babies will take it. They’ll likely be much more curious about their new friends!
Why only an hour?
Baby goats get tired easily. We also have to maintain feeding schedules while they are still growing.
Why only one or two goats?
Baby goats can be a handful. They’re full of energy, and love jumping and climbing. The size of the enclosure gives a small number of goats and guests room to interact without being overcrowded. It also allows us to keep an eye on the goats and reduce the chances of goats escaping through the enclosure gate as guests enter and exit.
